About IDIH

The Historical Archive of the Province of Santiago de México was transferred to the IDIH with headquarters in the Temple and ex-convent of Santo Domingo in Querétaro on May 5, 1989 and gathers the documents of the old provinces that the Order of Preachers had around the territory of New Spain until its disintegration in the 19th century. The library has more than eight thousand volumes, specialized in universal and Mexican history, Dominicanism and history of Querétaro, it has a considerable number in theology. In addition, it has an ancient collection of approximately a thousand volumes between the 16th and 19th centuries.

The Dominican Institute for Historical Research is proud to offer a variety of services for consulting its documentary repository and bibliographic collection, among other activities such as workshops, courses, conferences, and publications. Don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.

Historical Archive

IDIH is not a place exclusively for research. We are constantly creating projects in support of knowledge in different historical areas, both for the benefit of the institute and for those who seek to know.

Library

At IDIH we have an extensive collection of more than 10,000 copies in the contemporary section alone. In the old collection we have movable type books from the 16th to the 18th centuries, as well as choral books from New Spain.
